The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) determined, in a extraordinary reunion that took place yesternight (13th), the resend of the american troops to Iraq. The council decided in unanimity the dispatch of 5.000 soldiers from the U.S., which was considered the only army capable of acting on the area.
The military forces will be followed by observers of different countries. To Begin, China, Turkey, Mexico and the United Kingdom have offered themselves for the observation. In a presidencial note, it was agreed that the representatives of these countries should send a 48 hours report informing the real situation of the region after the soldier’s arrival at Kirkuk, in the northern Iraq, where the Curds initiated a real massacre against the Turkomen.
During the discussions, the United States delegation made it clear that they would send their troops even if they haven’t the Council’s support. China and Turkey were against the immediate sending of the troops, asking for garanties that after the conflict the soldiers would leave the place. As a counterpart, the north american representative, Juan Carlos, affirmed that he could not offer any guarantees ahead of an unkown cenario.
By the end of the discussions, Carlos declared to the SOI News journalism crew, that the resolution attended the interests of the council as well as the countries represented by it. According to him, the main objectiv of all the countries is to stop the conflict as soon as possible. It was also settled that another reunion would be carried to evaluate the effiency of the measures taken, through a report written and sent by the observing countries. Based on that, new proposals shall be realesed. The Security Council cogitates the dispatch of other troops to Kirkuk, if necessary.
After the removal of the North american army, the conflict began envolving the Curds and the Turkomen. It was speculated that besides an ethinic dispute , the conflict may be motivated by economical questions.
